Jurtin Hajro director of CoRDA – Center of Research and Design in Architecture at Epoka University was one of the invited jury members for the International Competition “Master Plan Campus: Constructing New Student Residences and Rehabilitating the Existing Ones”.

The competition was launched in February by Atelier Albania, Albanian Territorial Planning Agency, the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Enterprise and the Albanian Development Fund. Eight local and international architecture and urban planning studios presented their proposals for the master plan of the “Student City” in Tirana, in front of an international jury. The panel was led by Mathias Müller (architect, EM2N, visiting professor ETH Zurich), while other members comprised Niko Peleshi (Deputy Prime Minister of Albania); Brunilda Paskali (Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Enterprise); Arbjan Mazniku (Deputy Minister of Education and Sports); Anila Shehu (Director of the University Student Residence no. 1); Olv Klijn (architect, FABRIC, assistant professor TU Delft); Francesco Zuddas (architect, UrbanaArchitettura, PhD Architectural Association); and Simon Battisti (architect, Fulbright Fellow hosted by Epoka University).

CoRDA has been playing a significant role as a design and research center at Epoka University, by being active with its own proposals as in the case of Berat Island Competition – First Prize, ‘Durana’ Urban Design Competition – Second Prize. The representation of CoRDA in international jury panels followed the role of the local consultant by Frida Pashako in Berat Island Competition.
