AutoCAD workshop is an annual activity which is being organized by the department of architecture for the second year students one week ahead at the start of the fall academic semester. This workshop lasts 6 days (from Monday to Saturday) and is aiming to introduce the students with the primary mediums of CAAD (Computer Aided Architectural Design). All the second year students of architecture are highly recommended to attend due to the submission requirements they have to fulfill in digital form during the academic year at specific courses. The methodology of the workshop is based through explanation of the major influencing commands in a digital architectural drawing (In AutoCAD) and practicing during the class hours and at home. In the end of the workshop students should be able to know and draw technically 2D architectural products and also giving alternative and faster solution for the execution of specific operations in AutoCAD.
Fourth Edition of the Annual International Design Competition for Final Year High School Students, IDCHSS 2014 was organized. The competition was open to individual high school students enrolled in the final year of their studies. Some of the goals of this attempt can be listed as the following: To engage high school students with the designing process, to give high school students the opportunity to express their designing skills, to blur the borders between middle and higher education institutions, to identify new talents that would contribute in the future to the society through the discipline of architecture, providing study scholarships to excellent talents for their further studies at Epoka University etc. The students were expected to be profoundly interested in the field of graphical arts and especially Architecture. The workshop was held from 14 to 16th of February, 14.
The second year architecture students were given the chance to participate the SketchUp training workshop. The workshop was to be held weekly divided in nine different sessions, from November to January. The aim of the workshop was to provide students with practical information on the usage of SketchUp modeling software for Architectural design purpose.
The one-day workshop during which the students got to deal with image editing with Adobe Photoshop to create collages and montages, was organized in the framework of the Landscape Design course, to help the students make a step forward in terms of drawing techniques. Prior to beginning with the practical part of the workshop, the students were briefed on general definitions related to digital images and on the tools needed for preparing the collages and montages. The aim of the workshop was to introduce the second year students with the techniques of digital collages and montages, and to show how these techniques may contribute to the proper presentation of mainly landscape but also architectural projects.
From September 30th till October 4th 2014, Architecture Department at EPOKA University, organized the Freshmen [first year students] Introductory Week - Workshop. The event, consisted not only in making an introduction of the freshmen students of Architecture to the future University venue, the academic staff and future colleagues, but manly in briefly "simulating" what Architecture Education is about. Architecture Documentary Screening, Introductory courses in Photography, Free Hand Drawing, Model Making, Competition in the above mentioned disciplines, Exhibitions and colloquium, were among the events that took place during this 5-day workshop.
